Objective 5. The Charles E. Schmidt College of Science will have adequate space for its mission.

• Outcome: By AY 07-08, the new building for Davie , already on the PECO list, will achieve substantial completion, and a new building for Boca will have been funded for planning. By AY 09-10, the college will have increased the space assigned to its programs (other than the biomedical program) by 40% to accommodate the increase in its programs.
  
  
• Strategy: The College will s eek PECO funding to support the construction of two new buildings, one in Boca Raton and one on the Davie campus, to increase our available space by 40%, corresponding to the expected growth of our programs. The college currently completely fills approximately 450,000 square feet, and space for additional enrollment is not available. The increase needed is about 180,000 square feet. We propose to accomplish this increase by adding one building on the Boca Raton campus a nd a second on the Davie campus.

  Davie Science Building -- $31,676,100 in PECO funds to provide for an 80,000 GSF science building with 15,000 GSF for “wet” teaching and research laboratories and 45,000 GSF for “dry” instructional and research space, faculty and administrative offices.

   

  Boca Raton Science Building -- $47,500,000 in PECO funds to provide for a 120,000 GSF science education building, with 60,000 GSF for “wet” teaching laboratories and 60,000 GSF “dry” instructional space, faculty and administrative offices.
