• Outcome: By AY 07-08 the college will meet the standards of the National Academic Advising Association’s recommendation of no more than 300 advisees per professional academic adviser.

• Strategy: We currently have 4 full-time advisors for approximately 2675 undergraduate majors in Science, a ratio that more than doubles the NACADA-recommended standard of 300 advisees per full-time professional advisor. By AY 07-08, we project at total of more than 3000 undergraduate majors, requiring a staff of 10 professional advisers. By adding two advisers annually we will reach the NACADA standard and provide excellent academic advising specialized by major field.

• Resources Required: We will need to hire two additional advisers each year to reach this level. As described in more detail under Objective 4, each $3 spent in academic salaries requires approximately $1 in staff salaries, supplies, equipment, and related infrastructure support.
