President Brogan received letters noting that Evelyn Frazier and David Binninger have been named National Academies Education Fellows in the Life Sciences for 2006 for their efforts at the Summer Institute on Undergraduate Education. In addition, Evelyn returned a second year to serve as a facilitator and was named a National Academies Education mentor in the life sciences for 2007-2008 for her efforts.
Both were nominated by FAU and selected by the NAS Summer Institute on Undergraduate Education Program. They attended meetings with 16 teams from other institutions focused on enhancing Biology teaching particularly in the large lower level courses. As the letter to President Brogan stated “By sending a team to the National Academies Summer Institute, FAU is at the forefront of education reform that is so essential for educating both future scientists and scientifically literate citizens.”
